Gender, Governance and Islam Book Launch

  • 754 Schermerhorn Extension 1200 Amsterdam Avenue New York, NY, 10027 United States (map)

Please join us in celebrating the recent publication of Gender, Governance and Islam, with an introduction by Lila Abu-Lughod, Center for the Study of Social Difference Executive Committee member, former co-director of the Reframing Gender Violence and Religion and the Global Framing of Gender Violence Projects, and Joseph L. Buttenwieser Professor of Social Science at Columbia University.

Compiled against a global backdrop of mounting culture wars in the realms of gender, family, and sexuality, Gender, Governance and Islam aims to unsettle and interrogate the key conceptual categories through which the politics of gender in Muslim majority countries and Muslim diasporas have been commonly apprehended.
